  • Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Certificate

    The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) course prepares students to provide advanced prehospital emergency care under the North Carolina AEMT credential and scope of practice. AEMT builds on the foundation of the EMT certification, and prepares the student in pharmacology, cardiology, advanced airway management, intravenous and intraosseous therapy, and advanced patient assessment. The students gain the knowledge and competencies necessary to manage medical and trauma emergencies through face-to-face classroom instruction, skills labs, hospital clinicals and field internships. Successful completion of this course makes students eligible for the NC OEMS AEMT credentialing exam and national certification testing.

    The Online Paramedic Hybrid Continuing Education Certification Program provides individuals with the knowledge, skills, and attributes to provide advanced medical care as a paramedic. Graduates who successfully complete this program are eligible to sit for both the North Carolina state credentialing exam and the Rational Registry Credentialing exam. Employment opportunities include emergency medical agencies, fire and rescue agencies, specialty alternative care locations and government agencies.

    This course introduces the student to the level of Emergency Medical Technician. Topics include Emergency Medical Science, Cardiology. Instructor Faust.safety, preparatory, airway, patient assessment, medical emergencies, trauma, infants and children, operations and driving emergency vehicles. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve North Carolina State and/or National Registry EMT certification. Students who successfully complete the class will hold an American Heart Association BLS CPR card, a TIMS certification and Emergency Vehicle Driver certification from Office of the State Fire Marshall.
